Default How to downgrade from 3.0 (not activated) to 2.0.2?

    Hi folks,

I tried to upgrade my iPhone from 2.1 to 3.0. Its a 2g phone which was previously pwned.

    The upgrade deactivated the phone.

Since then Ive been trying to downgrade the firmware back to 2.0.2 as apparently if you do that, then pwn, then upgrade to 3.0 the activation will remain.

I cant do the downgrade though - tried itunes 7.5/8.1/8.2 and i just get a random series of errors, and also tried downgrading using winpwn and quickpwn with no luck either.

    Whats the crack?

    Thanks for any help!

bro follow this guide and then just wait for the quickpwn release for 3.0

Get the latest info for NoAccSplash Here
Currently it should work on iOS 4.x - 6.x

    On windows:
    1. Put phone into DFU mode.
    2. Restore to 2.0.2
    3. Use quickpwn 2.0 RC3 (This is a must cause this works with 2.0.2) do not install Cydia

Now you have a activated, jailbreaked iPhone.

Now do the what you wish.

This worked for me on a 2G with 3.0 GM

    Good Luck

I did the same thing but with iTunes 8.2 (final version) and Firmware 3.0 (final version).
I ended up with my iPhone unactivated and now I've been trying to downgrade by I always get 1600 error.

Should I try with iTunes 8.2 (beta) ??

    Default How to downgrade 3.0 to 2.2.1, 2.2 ( iTunes 8.2)

    1-First download Quickpwn Rc3

    iphone-hacks.com/downloads/file/138

2-You also will need 2.0.2 ipsw google it.
Start the Jailbreak process and when the screen turns into White color (Recovery mode) unplug the USB and close Quickpwn RC3, now reconnect iPhone and iTunes 8.2 will discover the iPhone in reovery mode and the screen is still White color ...then Shift+RESTORE 2.2.1 or 2.2

    works like a charm .

It is 100% working for me and others ..

As this poster says, it won't work.

iTunes 8.2, 3.0 final firmware. No method will get it back downgraded on an iphone 3G as of now.

I've tried everything, and it just won't do it.

downgrading from 3.0 to 2.2.1 will give you that 16xx error even if you have your phone in DFU mode.

Follow what xtronic said above, try it and report back.
You need to have the phone in that "white screen" mode for the downgrade to work.

There is another way via irecovery but I am not 100% certain. I don't have my iphone2G with me to do more test.
It is possible to downgrade. The trick is to see that "white screen".

Can you guy tell me if you are using the 3.0 released version or you are using the 3.0beta or 3.0 GM (gold master)

    thanks

I also kept getting error 1600 when downgrading from 3.0 with iTunes 8.2

The following procedure worked for me:
    + install iTunes 7.5
+ put phone into DFU mode (screen must be blank!)
    + restore to 2.2.1 => results in error 1601
+ restore to 2.2.1 again without DFU => works!
    + use QuickPwn to jailbreak
