Exclamation HELP: iPhone 3GS stuck at boot

    Hi!

I recently tried to updated a few critical apps including mobile substrate using Cydia.

Since theses downloads did not progress til the end, I when ahead and rebooted the iphone.

Now it is stuck at the apple logo and every 5 mins it resets and tries to boot again getting stuck here!!!

I tried pluging the iphone to itunes but it does not recognize the phone.
I also tried to access with wireless and not successful.

I can put it in restore mode, but I don't want to loose the latest info on that phone: SMS, Contacts, Photos, Videos...

What can I do??? I don't want to restore the phone because I will lose this information.

My iphone 3GS was using firmware version 3.01.

Can anyone give me hope, please....

    Thanks in advance!
    Elf.

You need to restore. That recent mobile substrate update had to be installed by itself, installing it with other software at the same time creates the problem you have now.

If you have an iTunes backup from before mobilesubstrate broke the iPhone then you can use that to recover most of your files.

The only other way to recover your files is to use forensic methods, these are not readily available for the average user though.

Default Where can I find those advanced methods?

    Hi,

I have posted before in the forum but didn't receive any concrete answer.
How can I restore a stucked iPhone using advanced information? do I need to "move" the flash chip to my own kit?

    Thanks,
    srw

Go and buy a PDF copy of iPhone Forensics - O'Reilly Media

This explains more on how to take a backup of your media partition.

This thread also explains a similar approach but requires that your iPhone can still boot http://www.hackint0sh.org/f177/82110.htm

I think it is also possible to patch the ramdisk so that it does not wipe the user partition. This can be done by modifying pwnagetool's bundles.
