Question Get root access - iPhone 3.0

    Hi,

I have an iPhone 3G (3.0) unlocked and activated with PwnageTool. However, I do not have Cydia and want root access. How do I get it ?

Please let me know about apps for Mac...

If there is no way, how do I get OpenSSH without Cydia ?

jashsayani, you're around a long time here and should know this, we had lots of discussions in the past. Cydia installs a lot of unix tools you need - before Cydia showed up we used Installer - first thing always was to install BSD.
I doubt OpenSSH will work - well mybe OpenSSH does - but you need all the Unix commands to have fun.
So just go ahead and jailbreak again, tjis time with Cydia enabled.

    Thats true v

I know diskaid will give you access to copy files from root (if thats all you needed) but it wouldn't allow you to do much else.

I have DiskAid and tried it at first, however it does not work with 3.0. Just crashes when iPhone is attached.

Yeah, but I did not want BSD and Cydia as those tools are fun and give complete control of the iPhone, but the Battery life is reduced and the iPhone gets slower. And by not installing all that, the Battery is really better now and the OS is much more faster and responsive....

The only reason I need root access right now, is to get Tethering working on my 2G
