Default Firmware 3.0.1 released -fix SMS exploit- use caution - ok to use redsn0w+3.0 to JB

Apple release firmware 3.0.1 today to fix the SMS exploit.
The baseband with firmware 3.0.1 is still 04.26.08.

As always, current redsn0w jailbreak will not work with 3.0.1 firmware.

Please exercise caution and wait for new announcement for the jailbreak from Dev Team.

ps: There are few tricks to jailbreak 3.0.1 but I suggest you don't do it. Please be patience and wait for reds0w update (it won't be long :-) ).
Again, please play it safe and wait for official announcement

update: I posted the above right after fw 3.0.1 was released. However, Dev Team has confirmed that fw 3.0.1 on iphone can be jailbroken by using current redsn0w and 3.0 firmware. Yes, use redsn0w and point 3.0 ipsw to it. The reason you can do this is, per MuscleNerd, "redsn0w uses the ipsw to apply only specific patches, and there's no overlap between those and the SMS fix".

I can confirm though that using 3.0 ipsw in redsn0w with 3.0.1 works and does not harm the device. I tried it on my 3G

Yes. Restore to 3.0.1 the run redsn0w and point to 3.0 ipsw.

But it's better to wait for the update of the redsn0w tool by the dev-team.

The dev team even recommends using 3.0 in redsn0w to jb 3.0.1. Musclenerd says the patches are identical

Those links are directly to apple's own download servers and are freely available to anyone from apple direct -- no reason to not allow them that I'm aware of.

I'm not a mod or anything though.
