I tried this yesterday, on my 2G and I cound not get it to work on the official 3.0 release, I will re-try later with release candidate - this at least works on the 3G phone.

You're a T-Mobile USA user who updated a PwnageTool-jailbroken phone to 3.0 simply by clicking "Update" in iTunes?

Under General settings, tap the Network tab and an internet tethering option should appear. From there on, you should be able to easily tether the iPhone via Bluetooth or USB.

Try going here (even from your iPhone!) and downloading a mobile configuration file. It seems to be far less aggressive than the carrier config files which people are having trouble wiht.

Official Apple documentation states that tethering won't work on the iPhone 2G.
