Default Disable EDGE on original iPhone

anyone know how to completely disable this thing on the new OS?

in os2 or earlier, if EDGE is disabled in BossPref or SBsettings, i don't get a Data IP and don't get charged.

    - if i disable it in SBsettings, i still get a data IP and get charged a little bit.
    - if i enable it, my applications can now access, and of course, get charged.
    - if i enter rubbish in APN settings and disable it, no data IP and don't get charged. but placing the phone next to the speaker will show the phone's constantly communicating with the mobile station. (i assume trying to connect)

anyone know how to completely disable it and never get a data IP, like in earlier OSes, so i won't get charged.

a small bump and at the same time to post my further thoughts:

the method used by SBsettings and BossPref are to disable application from accessing the EDGE network. but since os3, with the addition of push notification, the disabler needs to be updated to disable a wider range of things.

can anyone who know the creator of the application kindly send them a message?

Default Guys I found the solution for EDGE

as we all know that in previous versions of firmwares 2.0---->2.2.1 we can disable edge by delete the APN data in Cellular data network but in the update 3.0 it doesnt appear , so :

    1) go to cydia
    2) tap section
    3) go to tweaks
    4) install APN Editing ( now Cellular data network will appear again )
    5) go to settings
    6) General
    7) Network
    8) Cellular data network
9)delete every data in the APN , User & Password
    10) reboot

    done !!!

if anyone still have the same problem plz post

on my Vodafone UK PayG SIM, the APN settings appear perfectly fine.

on iPhone os2, there are no working Push notification (despite Apple's WWDC a year ago). so in a jailbroken iPhone, it is possible to use a toggle to block off all applications from going through the GPRS network, and enter random characters in APN setting to not connect at all.
on the new os3, they have added a Push notification, they have also changed the OS to try to obtain a data IP constantly so the push notification can actually work. (even though it's only for less than 5 useless app at present) my problem arise when the OS cannot obtain a data IP, it drains the battery constantly trying to connect, and when entering the correct APN settings, the push will connect to Apple servers briefly to notify the push destination, thus getting charged.

am i correct in saying that mobile providers only charge ONLY when some data is sent between the phone and the service station? when a data IP is obtained, no charge is applied?

basically the solution is to turn off application based push notification until the jailbreak toggle application (SBsettings) includes blocking Push access to GPRS data services.

so, let's hope BigBoss updates SBsettings so that the EDGE toggle extends to block the app based Push notification system. oh, and please don't block it on Wi-fi.
