Default Deep discharge, now phone wont turn on!! Help!

I have a 3G iphone and the battery died. I tried to turn it back on because i needed to make a quick call and it powered up. It immediatly turned off after doing the closing ceramony (when the thing spins).

So I waited till i got home to try and turn it on again once I could plug into power. Nothing!

The screen remains blank and seems as if the phone is dead.

I tried resetting it a million times by holding sleep/wake and home, I've tried putting it in DFU mode but nothing comes up on the scree or on my macbook.

I have left it plugged into the wall for 5 hours now and STILL nothing.

I could understand if I dropped the iphone and it stopped working but all i did was drain the battery and now it wont turn on.

If anyone can help that would be awesome.

BTW: Im out of warranty and a million miles from an applestore haha

I know this is a slightly different issue -- his device charges but is not recognized, but the troubleshooting steps we discussed would be extremely similar to what you would need to do to determine why your battery wasn't charging. Start with the Computer and the USB cable -- try a different one of each. Try using a wall charger. When that doesn't work, you can be pretty much assured it is a hardware problem and there will be no software solution.

At that point, if you've got any background in electrical engineering or are good at deconstructing and reconstructing things of an electrical nature, you can take apart the device and check the connection between the dock, dock connector, and logic board. That's the most common place for something to happen.

Doesn't always have to be something like dropping the phone. A phone with substandard soldering quality can easily have a solder joint break if the phone has been repeatedly exposed to hot and cold areas over time. Alternately, a quick switch between extremely hot and extremely cold will also cause the solder to expand and contract and can snap the joints.

    Good luck!
