    Any concrete proof of that?

Nothing concrete, but my phone and the three other people I know personally who have downgraded to 2.2.1 from 3.0 are now experiencing the issue and weren't previously. I'd defintely say I'm comfortable calling that more than a coincidence, though I think it's just an incompatibility between 2.2.1 and 04.20 - I wouldn't go so far as to say there's a problem with the baseband, it was never intended to be used with the 2.2.1 OS so for all intents and purposes, it's 'beta' too... Or at least just as unsupported.

    Just my 2c.

I ended up going back to 3.0.

The new baseband and 2.2.1 together are extremely unreliable. Not only does the data connection keep dropping but the reception also sucks.

Obviously the two were never made to work together.

BTW, Youtube works now. To get it to work you need to do the following:

    restore with 2.2.1
    restore your settings
    update to 3.0

Haven't had issues with the reception since my downgrade, and what's also surprising is that after about 3-4 days, I've begun noticing that the data dropping has mostly stopped. I notice it maybe once a day now.

That said, I just can't handle the battery drain on 3.0, so I'm waiting until they get that fixed... Good luck!

I know exactly what you mean. Surprisingly though I'm not having this issue anymore. As a matter of fact the battery seems to have improved with 3.0.

What I did different this time is that I upgraded to 3.0 instead of restoring. I think that when you restore with 3.0 and then restore all your settings from 2.2.1 this process screws somethings up in 3.0.

I recommend this to all who want to try 3.0:

    Restore your phone with 2.2.1
Restore all your settings (don't sync)
    Now upgrade to 3.0.
    Sync your apps and music.

    Good Luck

I really do not understand why people upgrade their personal phones to a beta version.

This beta is way too buggy. It has so many problems that unless one has a specific objective or test there is no gain in installing the 3.0 beta.

I really tried to understand that (http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/f201/68641.htm), however people were too ashamed to vote -- guess we all know their answers

I voted! I'm not a developer, just a power user -- I upgraded my phone (yes, my primary phone) to have an opportunity to play with the new functionality of it. I knew what risk there was, and haven't complained about it. Any of my posts were observations or noted bugs, or observations about the effects of downgrading said 3.0 to 2.2.1.

It may be hard to understand why people like me do what we do, and I definitely can't speak for all of us, but frankly, I did it just because it was there, and I like playing with beta things. For whatever reason, I like beta software, beta hardware, beta firmware, beta pretty much anything I can get my hands on. It's not an e-peen thing, because I'm not a braggart about it; I just enjoy it. I've got alternate options if I do something that completely and horribly destroys the phone, but I learned a long time ago that the best way to beta test something was to use it as your primary device for it's purpose...

There are channels for "registered developers" (which I am, $99 and my legit UDID says so) to report bugs in the firmware or bugs in general operation of the phone, and I'd like to think that they do get reviewed.... (?)

Just upgrade to b2, at least so your baseband gets updated. You can then downgrade again to any fw you like.
