Question Can some one help me?

My iPhone is running 3.0 it is jail-broke and unlocked. My service provider is att. I want to update my firmware to 3.1. My problem is that I want to keep it jail-broken but i don't have the att iPhone data package, do i have to unlock my phone again for it to keep working like it is? I have been told that if I update the firmware without unlocking the phone I will not be able to use it any more. Is this true??

This is not recommended. It will work as you have found out... However upgrading an already jailbroken iPhone is not supported. This leaves files orphaned by the previous installation of Cydia.

These orphaned files waste disk space and can cause instability and reliability issues.
