Default BootNeuter alternatives on a 2G?

    Hello,
I've got a friend's iPhone 2G that I'm trying to unlock. It's currently at 3.1.2 and was successfully jailbroken with redsn0w. I've tried BootNeuter several times (through winpwn, redsn0w and blackra1n) and each attempt has failed. BootNeuter says "Determining Current Settings," then just hangs. No dice.
My question is this: are there any alternative unlock methods for a 2G besides BootNeuter? I've managed to unlock my 3G with blackra1n, but obviously that doesn't apply to 2G. What else is there besides BootNeuter?

    Thanks for your time.

There exists no other alternative for unlock post OS 2.0 on 2G iPhones.

Additionally, I don't recommend blackra1n as a jailbreak for any iPhone model. A much better strategy is to use blackra1n as a starting point and then replace the jailbreak with pwnagetool. This is because blackra1n is a lightweight jailbreak and you will eventually find that some of the things it leaves out you actually want.

If you have problems with bootneuter, then you likely have real problems with your baseband and baseband bootloader. These should be fixed (if they can be, sometimes this gets so screwed up that only hardware repairs can fix it)

What is the unlock history of the 2G iPhone? Was ziphone ever used? When did the unlock stop working?
