    1. disable push notification and try a reboot
    2. wifi is ONLY used when gsm is NOT available (pop out the sim card and see the traffic flow over wifi)

Same here.... I have an Iphone 3G with official contract, never jailbroken or unlocked. Yesterday I installed TTR2 to see how notifications work and my battery drained faster than usual. At night I had by battery RED (less than 20%) when normally I have it at night with more than 50%...

Today I have turned off Push notifications to see tonight how is my battery... will tell you..

Youtube and Push Notifications aren't working on 2G Hacktivated iPhones.

Devteam is working on the the YouTube issue.
Does anyone know how to get those push notifications working?!
I get the pop-up: "Connect to iTunes to use Push Notifications."

How do you know the dev-team is working on the youtube problem? did they state that somewhere officially? maybe they can fix the push notification problem too - both seem to be activation related problems. in fact also the problem with current location not working without wifi is probably related, right?

I have an iPhone 3G 16GB White. I have a custom firmware created with PwnageTool hacktivated and with just Icy installed. I am using it on T-Mobile prepaid with no data plan. So, I am using it via WiFi.

I have tried to use Push Notifications in both AIM (FREE) and BeejiveIM. I am not getting notifications. I'm not getting pop-up messages, badge updates, nor sound notifications. However, the application remains connected. People told me that they see me online. When I relaunch the app, I receive all messages that were sent while the app was closed.

If I turn off Push Notifications, the app does not stay connected. So, it seems that Push Notifications are either broken or partially working. Or, maybe, it's trying to get them via GSM, and I have no data package. I have not tried to remove the SIM card since I have a SwitchEasy case, and it's a bitch to remove and put it on.

Yeah, won't work with hacktivated iPhones.
Too bad, I was looking forward to be nagged by people with the new BeejiveIM version

Default Possible solution to push notifications on unlocked phones

There is a great discussion about how to enable push notifications on hacktivated iPhones on the Beejive IM forums. Turns out, you need to use an AT&T SIM to activate the phone (then you can use any SIM as normal for unlocked phones).

so solution is to activate the phone via official SIM and then push will work on 2G iPhones??

would 2G iPhone be able to get push working on wi-fi connection only? or the iPhone OS must to through the mobile network?

im considering trying to get an O2 SIM to activate the phone, except i don't have data plan on my Vodafone SIM, so if Push doesn't work over Wi-fi, it's pointless.

btw, my youtube works perfectly fine here, logs in and able to watch videos. iPhone 2G hacktivated using PwnageTool
