Same thing here, unlocked 2G iPhone in Cyprus. After installing TTR 2.6 there is push notifications menu in settings, but the app still says "connect to iTunes".

Also, does anyone know how the OS distinguishes push-capable apps? I looked into various plist files inside the TTR.app bundle and didn't find anything relevant.

Damn... After looking around the web for some time now, it seems only people with "unofficial" iPhones are affected by that problem. Could PLEASE someone with a 1st Gen unlocked iPhone confirm that push WORKS for him? I really hope it's some strange problem only some of us have since push was one of the features i was looking heavily forward to in 3.0.

I just tried this on my 'unofficial' 2G and get the connect t iTunes message, yet it works fine on my official 3G.

obviously you are the troll because otherwise you would know anything about device token generation and why its not working with devices that bypassed activation.

I noticed that since installing TTR app my battery life significantly reduced, even with push notifications disabled in the settings.
Then I put my phone near a speaker and heard short clicks repeating each second. The phone was trying to contact Apple's push server over EDGE, even though I have wifi connection. And these clicks continued when the phone was locked.
As I mentioned, push notifications were OFF, but the phone was still trying to use them (and slowly draining my account ). So the only way to stop that was to delete TTR for good.
