Default Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a 3g iphone with tmobile. I have screwed it up and need help BAD! I have been trying to fix for about 10 hours now. Here is what happened:
I was running 2.2 firmware (jailbroken and unlocked) and I upgraded to 3.1 via itunes. I then found out that there wasn't a jailbreak available for 3.1 yet. I then restore it back to factory setting (I guess) via the itunes option under upgrade. Now it is not unlocked so my sim isn't working. All that is showing is the screen that says "no sim card installed" and a picture of a cord pointing to itunes. I am not sure what firmware that is installed because this is the only screen that is available. I also have no idea how to jailbreak it from this screen without know what the firmware version is on it currently. Can anyone PLEASE help me fix this phone! Thank you in advance!

Currently there is no solution for your problem. See Dev-Team Blog for details. 3.1 cannot be (sim) unlocked, only jailbroken.

If you upgraded to 3.1 in iTunes (despite all the warnings) there is very little chance of getting a soft unlock in the near future, if ever.

Just so I dont screw up my new phone, I have itunes 9.0 right now on my computer. As long as I dont update the firmware on the iphone, will I have any problems using 9.0? Thanks!

How is the phone unlocked? If it's officially unlocked youi can upgrade through iTunes. If it's using UltraSn0w you should never accept an upgrade through iTunes but can make your own.

I am not talking about upgrading the firmware on the iphone. I am talking about using itunes 9.0 on the new phone to load all of the data from my old iphone. Does that make sense?

If you need to restore your contacts and things of that nature you can do so by right clicking on the iphone in the left hand window in itunes and choosing "restore backup". that will allow you to restore settings that are already saved in a file without restoring the firmware itself.
