    Smile [SOLVED] 3.1 jailbroken, now carrierbundles are messed up

    Just upgraded to 3.1 after pwning the 3.1 ipsw. Restored just fine, but there is no carrierlogo in the statusbar nor does Preferences.app show the name of my carrier (I'm on the official carrier in Germany). 3G works anyway, signalreception is good.

    Everything works fine but this just confuses me as I can't explain it to me why it wont show any carriername. Anyone experienced something similar? Preferably also on T-Mobile Germany.

    Peace and out.

    EDIT: Could a mod please move this thread to the pwnage tool subforum?

    Edit carrier.plist in /System/Library/Carrier Bundles/TMobile_Germany.bundle/
    on your phone. Find this lines
    Code:
           <dict>
    			<key>AllowPrefixMatching</key>
    			<true/>
    			<key>CarrierName</key>
    			<string>t-mobile</string>
    			<key>DefaultImage</key>
    			<string>Default_CARRIER_TMOBILE.png</string>
    			<key>FullScreenOpaqueImage</key>
    			<string>FSO_CARRIER_TMOBILE.png</string>
    		</dict>
    ==========>>
    Insert the code from second code example here. Remove <= and => too.
    <===========
    	</array>
    Code:
    	<dict>
    			<key>AllowPrefixMatching</key>
    			<true/>
    			<key>CarrierName</key>
    			<string></string>
    			<key>DefaultImage</key>
    			<string>Default_CARRIER_TMOBILE.png</string>
    			<key>FullScreenOpaqueImage</key>
    			<string>FSO_CARRIER_TMOBILE.png</string>
    		</dict>
    Respring and it should work. Dont forget to backup file before editing incase something goes wrong.

    This *should* work because obviously the carriername is set to " " aka nothing. Anyway it didn't work for me.

    Now what worked for me. Use MakeItMine from cydia to force a carrier logo. For T-Mobile Germany eg. you type in "TMOBILE" so the stock T-Mobile logo will be shown. This only applies for official carriers like O2-UK, ROGERS, AT&T etc. Just have a look into the carrierbundle of your carrier and have look at the staturbarimages names.

    Example:
    Code:
    Default_CARRIER_TMOBILE.png
    You see TMOBILE is all caps, thats what you type into MakeItMine so the logo will show up. You can also force carrierlogos of other carriers to fool around

    I just tried updating my factory unlocked (New Zealand) iPhone 3G to 3.1 using Pwnagetool (thus keeping the baseband at the version 04.26.08 which belongs to 3.0.1 as I was planning to revert to 3.0.1 later) and I see the same behaviour of the carrier name not showing up even though everything else appears to work.

    I've downgraded to 3.0.1 again and the carrier indication is back, so it seems to be the case that the 3.1 firmware will not indicate the carrier name if the baseband is still at the old version - it's not related to the unlock because my phone is factory unlocked and thus the baseband is unmodified.

    Definitely not due to unlock.
    it is possible a bug with Apple firmware 3.1
    I found a post on twitter

    @MuscleNerd It's not just unlocked phones that have no carrier listed, it's happened on 3 different official AT&T 3G for me in the US. :-/
