    Default 2G Alternatives to BootNeuter?

I've got a friend's iPhone 2G that I'm trying to unlock. I've managed to successfully jailbreak the phone using redsn0w and quickpwn, and most recently jb'd it using blackra1n. It's currently running 3.1.2.

I have previously attempted to unlock the phone at various firmware versions, using winpwn, quickpwn, redsn0w, ziphone and blackra1n. Basically, each of them seem to rely on BootNeuter for the actual unlocking, which is where I get stuck. Whenever BootNeuter begins, it gives me the "Determining Current Settings" message, then just hangs. Eventually, I'm able to use the Home button to back out of the app, but this happens whenever you try to run BootNeuter.

So, long-winded lead-in aside, my question is this: For an iPhone 2G, are there any alternate software unlock methods that don't utilize BootNeuter?

I'd appreciate any insight on this situation. Thank you for your time.
