Would it run? With which distro?
Hi there.
First, let me excuse myself for my complete n00biness, as I am completely new to this whole Hackintosh game, and have a GREAT deal trying to figure out what works with what and what does not work. Only thing I managed to understand yet is that it works on Intel and does not on AMD. Or does it? Whatever... I got this computer over there, new, completely fresh, nothing upgraded/replaced.
HP Pavilion Elite 9260f
Not particularly a fan of "commercial desktops PCs" but eh, I got it almost free... It's not a great deal if it's impossible or would be really difficult to do, but if it's okay to build a stable system over this computer with any of the Hackintosh releases, I'd like to know. If not, well... I'll stick on my Windows 7/Ubuntu dual/boot build, what can I do more.
Mostly using my computer as a recording studio. I'd like to use Logic Studio 9 on this Hackintosh build, with my Presonus Firestudio Project, as both work as a charm on a "regular" OS X. I thought it would be better for you specialists to know, IF you have to kill my dreams right away!
Thanks!

It works on both Intel and AMD. Depends on what CPU, chipsets, video etc.

Thanks for the input, something new I learned because of you.
But would my computer be okay to run a Hackintosh distro? Or do I have incompatible hardware?

Download CPU-Z and it would tell you most of the essential info relevant to OSX installation.

The chipsets is probably P55/X58 series, and there are many people with that setup have OSX running.
It's fairly new hardware so installation would be a bit difficult. You can try retail with EFI or iBoot. Easier method would be finding a distro release.
Regardless of installation method, i5/7 CPU would need to have SL system and kernel version updated to the latest 10.6.4 to get better hardware support. So the installation is just to get into OSX and go with the updating.

Chipset is P55 express. Maybe going to try with distro release first, as I don't know how to install using EFI or iBoot on PC hardware. Know what those things are but not sure how to use them.

It's more involved doing retail method.
You can try iAtkos S3 v2 10.6.3 Snow Leopard.

Aww... Downloaded iAtkos S3, can't boot it : I see the grey apple logo for half a second then reboot.
Just one question : would it be better in the end that I'd learn how to install from retail?
EDIT : No luck yet. Tried booting my Macbook's Retail DVD with iBoot supported (as my i5 750 is supported by this iBoot Release), and still no luck, asks me to reboot after half a page of text over the grey apple (sorry for the lame explanation).

It would be a bit difficult to install as mentioned earlier.
With iAtkos S3 try this boot options:
-x -v cpus=8 busratio=20
