What is the default User name and password?
Hello. Im installing Mac OSX 10.4.8 on my Dell Dimension 4600. Everytime i install it, it reboots and then i get the "Before you begin" and it tells me it doesnt detect a keyboard. I found a work around by running the -s command at startup and deleting the .AppleSetupDone file. Now when i startup, it takes me to the login page but i dont have a username or password, but on the plus side, for some odd reason, from this screen, i can type things and it DOES recognize my keyboard! Is there any defualt user name and password for an account?
(In the GUI, not the Sudo or root) and if not, is there any way i can create a user in single user mode at startup? thanks so much!
have you tried leaving the fields blank?
to create a user from the coommand line (as super user) (replace yourname as whatever you want it to be)

dscl / -create /Users/yourname PrimaryGroupID 1000
dscl / -create /Users/yourname NFSHomeDirectory /Local/Users/yourname
