Trying to Install OSx10.6 on Asus Laptop

<<< System Summary >>>
> Platform : Intel Calpella
> Mainboard : ASUSTeK Computer Inc. K52Jr
> Chipset : Intel HM55
> Processor : Intel Core i5 430M @ 2266MHz
> Physical Memory : 4096MB (2 x 2048 DDR3-SDRAM )
> Video Card : ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5400 Series
> Hard Disk : Hitachi HTS545032B9A300 (320GB)
> DVD-Rom Drive : HL-DT-ST BDDVDRW CT21N

> Network Card : JMicron Technology JMC250 PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Controller
> Operating System : Windows 7 Home Premium Home Edition Media Center 6.01.7600 (64-bit)
> DirectX : Version 11.00
so heres the issue everytime i load iAKTOS to start the initial install it will show the apple logo then restart all of a sudden....no errors or kernel panics.....i have even tried using flags like -v -f -x -s cpus=1 maxmem=2048 but nothing works it will show it is loading the kext then fail all of a sudden.
any tips or hints as to what the problem could be......

You need to use good distro release version and correct boot option to start OSX installer.
What iAtkos version are you installing? V4i, 5i, 7i or S3?
Leopard or SL?

Well which is a good distro you would recommend.....and i was using iAktos 10.6 version 2 i think it was the S3....but i managed to take the install 1 step into a kernel panic now......i get a CPU=0 kernel panic and a file is missing error i will mention the exact error when i get back to the sys.

OMG!
after a half year finally someone who's trying on the same laptop,
like i said, i have the exact same laptop except for having a 500GB HDD.
anywaays, the distro iAtkos S3 is the best in my opinion, what you're missing is only the 'busratio=17' flag,
no other flags needed, i always boot(and installed) with 'cpus=4 busratio=17' and that works,
only thing now, is the drivers, at the time(a half year ago) i couldnt find anything for it, but now they seem to come, i got the wireless driver, and the vga driver, but need to try em though, i just installed again yesterday, so i will update
i hope i am not too late with my answer to help you

I have an asus k52je same config but with a core i3.
Did you installed and boot after installation with success ?
If yes, can you tell me which version did you use ?
I tried many times iaktos s3 v2 with differents options (customize) ...
All my test for installation are good, but all restarts after installation occurs reboot loop at the grey apple logo ....
So if you can tell me how can i do it ... it would be nice
Thanks in advance.
p.s: sorry for my english, i'm french

hi,
yes i did succeed,
i used iAtkos S3 v2,
you always(install and boot) have to use the bootflag 'busratio=?'
and intead of '?' you have to search on google for 'i3 busratio' and you'll find a list and use that value instead of '?'
and then it will work, but you also have to install a modified kernel,
so in the customization window you choose the default options +:
-a bootloader(i chose chameleon RC5)
boot options:
-32bit boot
-Ethernet(if you ever use it)
patches:
-default + a modified kernel(i chose qoopz 10.3.0) and sleepenabler
Drivers:
sound:VoodooHDA(you can also install latest version after osx install instead of now)
PS2: Voodoo PS/2
CPU Pw Mgmt: EvO Speedstep
Laptop Hardware: ALL
NTFS 3G: ALL(or search google for NTFS 3G and install that cuz i read that macfuse isnt as fast
and then you will need to install a kext for the wifi after install, for wich i'll post a link(if allowed) or else attach it to this post when i find it again.
NOTE:
You have to use a USB mouse cuz there's only one thing i still haven't figured out and thats why my laptop keyboard does work but not my touchpad, but in setup they both work, i think it's becuz previously i didn't do 32bit boot, and the driver for the touchpad is 32bit only. so i'm trying a fresh install atm, cuz i even got my wifi to find my router, but not yet connect to internet, so there's two tiny things missing i guess.
i'll keep you updated
if i find the time and all works, i'll make a nice package of all the kexts and apps i have used

Hello Sagar,
Thanks for your reply, i'll try with options.
For busratio I always used 17.
For touchpad, it's not possible to install the 32bits driver after install ?
thx for your further feedback :d
-
hi, it turned out it had nothing to do with 32 or 64bit, i just cant get it to work, but it is strange that the keyboard does work..
and so it doesnt matter if you choose 32bit boot option or not, i have unselected it atm
edit:
i have tried for hours but still no succes, if someone knows how to get the touchpad working i would really really love to know =D

yes i do!
Atheros AR9285 - Downloads - Kexts.com
i found it on some forum and they said they got it to work with this, but i still haven't got it working, it finds my router and my desktop pc, but for some reason it doesn't connect, the diagnostics show green dots for all but internet and server(those are yellow, or red) i don't know what i am doing wrong, if i use DHCP i get a 169.254.xx.xx ip. it almost looks like it doesn't work with my router =(
so i'll have to wait for your feedback.
and also, did you get the touchpad working or are ya using a USB mouse?
