stuck at welcome screen
well I'm stuck at the welcome screen. right after i choose i don't own another mac it keeps looping back to the beginning to where you have to choose your language. i looked around and tried this...
Boot into your new installation but hit F8 during the prompt and then type -s to enter the single user mode.
Then type the following:
(Press enter at the end of each line)
/sbin/fsck -fy
/sbin/mount -uw /
passwd root
touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
reboot
when i get to the "passwd root" part it just says "-sh: passwd: command not found" and then displays -sh-3.2#. what am i doing wrong? thanx for any help that can be provided.

Hi,
There are quite a few posts regarding this issue.
You could search for those to see if there is any variation that would work.
Good luck.

Hi,
You could try this by Dj Osiris: (if you have not found it yet)
"You can try hitting command(usually alt) + Q at the registration page to skip it.
or
Boot with -s then enter:
/sbin/mount -uw /
touch /private/var/db/.AppleSetupDone
passwd root
hitting enter after each line respectively. After the last command enter the password you intend to use then enter it again to conform. Type exit and see if you can now boot into OSX"
Hope you got it.

Hi,
Which version of SL? BTW, you know that Leopard and SL are two different OSX, right?
You have to post your full specs, setup info, etc. so other can comment on that particular problem though.
But work with this registration screen and see what happens, you're close.

tried both of these options and nothing. the alt + q just lets me quit. and the other still gives me the same error that "-sh: passwd: command not found". im out of ideas and wasted to much time on this. my pc is currently useless as windows 7 didnt want to boot so i had to reformat my hdd. i see on youtube osx running on hardware the same as mine yet i dont understand how they got it to work. i even read that it might be the mini pci-e wifi card so i ordered and Apple Atheros AR5008 AR5BXB72 Mini Pci-e 802.11n 300M from ebay to see if it works better.
asus eee pc 1005hab
intel atom n270 1.6 ghz
2 gb ram
160 gb hdd
bios 1401
ideneb 1.3 10.5.5
kalyway leopard 10.5.2
snowleo osx86_64 intel/amd32/64 mbr guid

Hi,
Those commands worked for many, maybe something in the installation?
If you can use Chameleon to boot OSX then it also can be used to boot win7.
At first Darwin/Chameleon screen, if you see blue bar countdown then press any key, if not then press F8. OSX and win7 should be there for you to make selection, Win7 starts from a volume named System Reserved.
For your hardware, yes, many people have OSX running. Leopard and SL can be installed. If you have particular guides for just that hardware then it would be easier.
