"Still Waiting for Root Device" after booting with Hazard 10.6.2
After I boot up with Hazard, I press f8 and have tried typing the following:
all these have still led me to the same error: "Still Waiting for Root Device"
Do you have any suggestions on what I should do?
(Side note, any idea how I can burn 7.15gb .dmg retail on a DVD or a USB in Windows?)
Motherboard: Gigabyte H61M-D2P-B3
CPU: Intel i5 - 2400
GPU: ATI Radeon Sapphire HD 5570
You might want to try using Transmac for writing the .dmg to a USB drive. You can download the 15 day trial from TransMac Details and then use it to format with a disk image. If that fails, you could always try getting an .iso version of it somehow and using DD for windows to write it to USB (here's a tutorial: How to create an OSX86 USB installation drive on a PC | Greyhead.co.uk – The online portfolio and blog of Alex Harries). I'm actually waiting on mine to finish being DD'd over to the USB flash drive right now.
Not sure about the waiting for root device though; do you have AHCI enabled in your BIOS?
I've tried every distro I can find over the last 4 days and the fartherst I got was with Ideneb 1.3.something. even the Ideneb 1.5 and 1.6 just immediatly rebooted after flashing the Apple Splash screen for a split second. Other distros either gave me some problems like waiting on root device , some distros would just get stuck on a bunch of text on the screen . I don't have a Mac or access to one but i did try transmac and was able to format my usb external HD to Mac format and even tried formatting the drive with a dmg image .
I'm on a Dell Studio XPS 8000 with intel i5 . So I cant change my Bios to AHCi the only option in my bios is to change it from ATA to RAID . I tried RAID and windows wont boot up and the OSX installation still fizzles out either way.
Also in Transmac after i first installed it i was able to see my Partition that I created on my internal HD the first time. Now everytime I load transmac none of my internal drives are listed . Only my USB slots are visible so the internal ones just dissapeared .
I once got Ideneb to boot up and load the installer and even got to the point where it asked me to choose a destination disk but the only one listed was the DVD ROM where my ISO was on , no other disk image was visible in the Mac installer . So I'm at a loss . I wish there was a distro that actually worked on mine.
If anyone has any fixes to my issues please help.
Ok screw this . The only reason I wanted to use Mac Os is to use Final Cut Pro on my PC.....Blah whateva..I can't get this crap to work and nobody at any of the forums offer any help. The forums are filled full of unanswered questions.
I learned Final Cut Pro at college and was good at it so i wanted to use it. but with all the problems associated with trying to hackintosh my PC is just not worth it. I just downloaded AVID MEDIA COMPOSER 5 and now trying to learn it. So Screw OSX
Sorry, you picked the wrong hardware to install OS X on. If you knew you were going to need OS X, then you should've done some homework about compatibility. Anyway FYI other people have succeeded in OS X installation on the same Dell you have. See here:

Screw Dell. Build a rig yourself. It's cheaper and works better!
