still waiting for root device
Hi, i am trying to install snow leopard from a third party distribution disk but it keeps hanging at "still waiting for root device"
i did some google searching and saw i need these settings in my bios
* ATA/IDE Mode : Native
* Configure SATA as : AHCI
* S.M.A.R.T. : Enabled
so i tried that, same problem.
than i tried safe mode with -x and then tried -F (and then tried both); same problem occured.
then some more searching said that the disk drive should be set as master so i did that; no change.
then i removed peripherals such as second monitor, wireless mouse etc. no help.
there is an error before the waiting on root device message about firewire security and it defaulting to full security. doesnt seem relevant i think; i dont need firewire.
what should i do to fix this? thanks.
basically, waiting for root device means it can't find the device / drive with the install on it.
what you can try to do is set your SATA controller to IDE instead of AHCI and run it in comparability mode if there is an option.
