Hi there, my specs are as follows:

AMD Phenom II x4 940 BE @ stock 3ghz
Gigabyte M720-US3 mainboard
Corsair 4GB 1066mhz DDR2 RAM
2x 500GB SATA
nVidia 8800GT 512MB GPU

I would like to run Snow Leopard in a dual boot with Windows 7, I currently have it running in Virtualbox, is it possible to run a vanilla install on this hardware, or do I need an alternative kernel?

If so, which distro of OSX is best for this?

Also how would I choose a bootloader (if that's what I need).

It's OSX86 so none of the non-mac pc's would be pure vanilla.
Vanilla kernel is optimized for Intel Core 2 class only (other Intels would rely on something else to better perform and that include the newest i series up to 10.6.3), so there is nothing wrong with AMD CPU not be able to run vanilla.

As for distro, there are several releases but they're all falling a bit short for your system. Distro and updates are different matters, and all depend on how OSX are prepared prior to its system/file changing.

The best method, since you already have SL/VM running, is to use retail DVD installation method. Utilizing your running OSX to install SL to your "real" partition. Since most of the patches/fixes are manually organized, direct updates from Apple should not pose any problem.

I would like to run it 'properly' not virtualized.

How would I install SL to my real partition using the VM?

Would the hazard distro I used work on my system outside the VM?
