OK, so I'm using a Samsung R580 laptop with a Dual-Layer DVD burner. First of all, this will be my first shot at a Mac OSX install on a PC so I'm not sure what i should have downloaded so i just downloaded the latest version of snow leopard. Please tell me if i should have downloaded a different DVD image so that I can go get it and not waste any more DVDs.
Anyways, in the mean-time (if i am doing this right and have the right DVD image), I've got a Mac OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.3 DMG image. It is about 6gb so I went and bought 20 HP DVD+R DLs.
Then I found I couldn't burn DMGs in Windows and I don't have an actual mac so I went and got this dmg2img program and dragged the image onto the .EXE and it made a .IMG file. Then I tried to burn it with Infrarecorder and it got about 25% and then I had an input/output error or something. here's the log if it helps at all.
So then I thought I would try and find a program that could actually burn .DMGs and so I found TransMac. I started the program and went to the .DMG image and the program expanded it and started writing to a new disc. This time it only got to about 10% and then stopped with an error.Code:InfraRecorder version 0.50.0.0 (x64) Started: Friday, May 28 2010 23:51:25. Versions: MSW = 6.1, IE = 6.1, CC = 6.10. Then I searched the internet on how to burn dual layer DVDs to see if i was doing it right and found a forum post on a site that recommended ImgBurn.
So I went and downloaded that and put in the .IMG i had created earlier of Snow leopard and then I started to burn it to a new disc. It got to about 25% and then failed with an I/O error. Here is the log for that also if it helps at all.
So I have no idea what's going on. I have searched around a bit and people say that better discs/cleaning the drive could work but I just want to see what my situation might be specifically. I also don't know if any of these are actual writing a boot-able DVD for me which is what i want so i can install this on my computer.Code:; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.5.1.0 - Log ; Saturday, 29 May 2010, 09:32:51 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 08:58:38 ImgBurn Version 2.5.1.0 started!
