    Default Snow Leopard Crash Logs?

I've looked everywhere, and I'm new to OS X. I just installed Snow Leopard on my P5K Deluxe Intel machine and it keeps crashing anytime I try to encode a DVD (using different programs too).

Now, can anyone direct me to where the log files are placed so I can see why I'm getting a kernel panic? Thanks in advance!
