    Default Retail Disk?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1542. I want to load Snow Leopard. I do not want a dual boot system, but a "real" whole "fake MAc". I have recently purchased an iMac which came with a snow leopard disc. Can I use that or do I need to buy a "retail" copy of SnowLeopard?

I've just begun to think about and research this...so it's safe to say that I need to be talked to as if I was 4 years old.

While I stand to be corrected,is my understanding that the disk that comes with Apple system is always a problem, that's if it even load. I will recommend retail DVD disk

I completely agree with you. That disk contains a fairly particular version made for the very companion hardware, and generally not suitable for OSX86 installation.
