Problem installing retail 10.6.2
Hi all, imnew to mac osx as many of us here
it seems the only version of mac i can install is Kalyway 10.5.2 its the only copy that works for me, ive tried installing a retail by using a special boot disk then i replaced it with a retail version and ive installed it but at the end i get a message (install failed - mac os x could not be installed on your computer, the installer could not start the computer from the disk "hard disk 1" try selecting disk using the start up utility.)
ive tried using the startup utility but it said it couldnt restart it, even if i press reset manually after reboot it wount work, by the way this is a proper retail 10.6.2 which was arounf 7GB. Ive tried using a custom retail which was made to fit on a 4.7GB disk but at the end of that installation i got the gryed out window that says you need to restart your computer, not sure why they not working as i can get kalyways version on my pc (ive changed the sata setting under the BIOS to i think its called ACHI or something simalar.Any help will be much appreciated.
PC Specs:
Asus P5K-E WIFI
Intel quad core Q6600 W95
2GB mem
dual layered samsung drive
gefore 8800GT

You using a patched BIOS or DSDT? Are you sure your installing retail to GUID and not MBR because if it's the latter you have to mod OSInstall.mpkg or use one that's already done. If your running Kalyway I would set up a bootable flash drive for Snow it's a faster install plus allows you room to make needed changes for your hardware.
