Stuck on black screen during Snow Leopard install
I have bought a Snow Leopard retail disc, and have been trying to install it on my system. After trying various boot discs, I eventually found one from a few months ago which worked (I can't remember what it's called, but it doesn't seem to be related to my problem!). I load up the SL disc, and the spinning pinwheel appears.
After spinning for about a minute, with constant DVD-drive activity, my screen then goes onto standby, showing that it is receiving no signal from my computer. For about two minutes of this black screen, the DVD-drive stays active, until it eventually dies down. After dying down, it spins up again if I press any button on the keyboard, then dies down again after a few seconds. I can do this repeatedly, but nothing ever seems to happen. I also can't eject the drive. I've tried starting from the beginning again, but the same happened again.
I forgot to mention that it basically looks like the screen is going black at the point where the installation screen should appear, and that the DVD drive spinning up when I press the keyboard is simply the installation screen responding to my commands; but why can't I see it?!
My system is as follows:
Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 overclocked to 3.72Ghz
Palit nVidia GeForce GTX 275
4Gb Kingston HyperX 1066Mhz ddr2 RAM
I have two hard drives, but the one I am trying to install on is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 200GB IDE, set as master.
I have unplugged the other hard drive whilst installing so that if I make a mistake, I can't format the wrong drive!
How can I get around this problem??
Please, please help, I can't find the solution anywhere!
Thanks in advance,
