Pre installation help
I want to install Snow leopard on my Acer Aspire 6930g
I currently have XP and ubuntu dual boot and would like to add SL as a third boot option but i dont know what to do first.
1. it always looks like you have to install SL first on any multi boot system, i already havwe xp/ubuntu and would like to keep them, can i install osx while keeping the other two?
2.i think i need iatkos but this installs a later version of osx, can i upgrade this to SL later or can i just install SL straight off?
thanks in advanced
Hi, you can install Leopard or Snow, using a distro is usually alot easier for beginners though. About dual-boot contrary to what you were led to believe Windows is the one that should go first :D. These should help you, for Leopard see HERE or for Snow see HERE.
Wow! thanks a lot, your very helpful! will follow these guides. i will first try to install iATKOS 1.5.7 first then update to snow. i have a feeling stuff will not work after though.
There are two question i have, i have used gpartition in ubuntu to create a third (i think there might be 4 now) partition on my HDD to install OSX, its blank, not formatted,
Will osx just install away overwriting all partitions or do i get to point it to the right one?
Will osx see it if its blank?
Edit: well i went ahead and tried it, followed an iATKOS guide, not much working after first install but then found a guide specific to a laptop very similar to mine, only trackpad and keyboard not working sadly, wifi too. gonna try the snow guide now. Thanks!
Sadly only osx and XP can be seen, ubuntu is now where to be found although it is still there and has its own partition. any ideas on how to load it up?
