OS X on Compaq Presario 2178CL: Is it possible?
Hello everyone.
I came to know about this possibility a few days ago and I've been reading and trying like crazy and I can't seem to be able to install.
Specs:
PC: Compaq Presario 2178CL
CPU: AMD Athlon XP-M 2400+ [1.8Ghz]
RAM: 1GB RAM
HDD: 80GB
Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon IGP 320M
Mobo: 0024 PQ1A75
Chipset: ATI IDCAB0 REV 13
BIOS: KA M1 57
This computer is pretty old but is still very useful.
I've searched the CPU and I found that it is a:
Barton
Socket A(EV6)
1 Core
1 Thread
Apparently it is able to run:
# L1-Cache: 64 + 64 KiB (Data + Instructions)
# L2-Cache: 512 KiB, fullspeed
# MMX, 3DNow!, SSE
[I read that it was capable of SSE2 & 3 too, not sure]
I was able to run Snow Leopard with VMWARE but too slow. So I was trying to see if I could natively run it with OSx86.
I downloaded several distro .isos : iPC, Kalyway, and built an ISO from the original Snow Leopard DMG to try to install using BOOT-123 and SVBOOT.
So far nothing works. When it seems to work: it freezes and the messages I see are:
"mac os version not yet set"
or
"no remote debugger" [something like that]
I would like to know if there is a distribution that I could use to install OS X to my computer or if there is a tutorial I could use. I've tried like 20 so far.
Also, If my computer isn't able to run Snow Leopard / Leopard. Could I install Tiger on it?
Thank you very much for your patience and taking your time to read and help.
Take Care.
P.S. I read something about a VOODOO KERNEL that could allow my AMD PC to run it, but all the distros I find are Cameleon. Is there any AMD friendly distro out there I could use?
