Kernel panic on boot: pre-install.
I followed This guide To set up a USB flash drive snow leopard install disk. I get the apple logo and the spinning gray loading icon and a darker shade of gray wraps over the screen and a dialog box says "you need to restart your computer".
The only part of the guide that I have not followed verbatim is the adjustments made in the BIOS. I know that these are important but I have a very different bios- mine says "Phoenix - AwardBIOS CMOS Setup Utility" at the top. As a result, I don't know where to change what.
I have:
XFX 680i mobo
4gb 800mhz ram
Intel q9550
XFX NVIDIA GTX 260
And a kingston 8GB flash drive.. not any kind of funky cruzer or whatever else.
Can anyone offer some advice? I'm pretty sure my problem is not changing the BIOS settings that I need to change. I have googled and browsed this forum for the correct steps to take but it seems no one has written the BIOS setup guide for my BIOS, and I don't understand what changes need to be made and why in order to figure it out on my own.
