frozen at start up, please help.

I am trying to install SL to Lenovo x61s by using retail DVD.
I am using chameleon 2.0 rc3 as boot disk. After boot up the PC, I replace the DVD by the retail SL and press F5. The boot flag is -v -x. The installation is succesful.

However, after the restart, the computer frozen at :
IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vectors 64:87.

So, I try to re-install once. By using installation DVD, the next statement of "IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vector 64:87" should be "ACPI: System state [s0 s3 s4 s5] (s3)".

Also, I have try to restore the DVD into hard disk by using disk utility in the installation DVD. When I boot by Chameleon 2.0 rc3, I can see the option of using restore image inside hard disk to boot. However, by using that partition to boot, it still frozen at "IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vectors 64:87".

So, I guess it may cause by fail loading hard disk rather than power problem. However, I can't find any solution about that. Or it cause by chameleon 2 rc3?

From what I understood, your installation files/system were directly from retail DVD and you have not installed any additional files except using Chameleon to boot?

I have install AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext, fakesmc.kext (2.5 from netkas), dsmos.kext, NULLCPUPowerManagement.kext. Also, I had remove original "Don't steal mac os x.kext", AppleIntelCPUManagement.kext.

Of course, I delete the kext cache at "/system/library/caches/com.apple.kext.caches/startup/extensions.mkext" and repair user right (chmod -R 755 /system/library/extensions/*.kext) and ownership (chown -R root:wheel /system/library/extensions/*.kext).

I use transmac to format a usb into hfs+. then use another slax usb live to boot up computer and download the kexts.

I put the kext, change user right and ownership method is boot using chameleon -> insert the installation disk -> utility -> terminal. All the path is actually prefix with "/volumes/snow" in terminal.

Hi,
I don't have your chipsets/cpu specs at this time, but the list of installed kexts seems a bit too short without other additional files.
FakeSMC usually replaces dmos, if they're not causing problem then that's later.
BIOS setting, ACPI enable? Power setting S3? Possible?

You have DSDT file? Any string injection?

EDIT: is the guide a generic one or one particularly for your system?

The first guide I follow is How-To Converting Thinkpad x61s from Ubuntu 9.04 to Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.7 (no optical drive required).

After I found that iDeneb is a pre-batched distribution, I again found some with original DVD guide: Hackintosh Tutorial: Install a Mac Leopard OS X Retail DVD on a PC. But this again, I download Boot-132 but fail to enter the installation screen.

Then, I found a site Hackintosh Instructions, Hackintosh How To Guides @ Hackintosh.com that list a detail instruction:
How to Build a Hackintosh with Snow Leopard, Start to Finish.

So, I would say the installation is only a generic procedure.

I have also google for some BISO settings. But I can't find any power state S3 inside BIOS (or I don't know which item is). I have tried both SpeedStep enabled and disabled.

For the SATA, I have try both AHCI and compatible mode, both frozen at the same place.

I guess the chipset is using Intel GM965 Express and Intel PM965 Express (source: Lenovo Support & downloads - Intel Chipset Support for Windows Vista, XP, 2000 - ThinkPad Reserve Edition, R61, R61e, R61i, T61, T61p, X61, X61s, X61 Tablet, X300). The computer is equiped with 4GB ram.

Sorry about that I don't know the DSDT file. I don't know how to modify it and compile it. Any thing I should do on this file?

Another item I still not yet understand is the purpose of smbios.plist. So, I not yet touch anything about smbios.plist.

I also guess the problem is caused by incorrect content inside AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext or NULLCPUPowerManagement.kext.

The hard disk is 120GB. Partitioned into 2x60GB, GPT HFS+ journaled non case sensitive.

Beside the system frozen before "ACPI: System state [s0 s3 s4 s5] (s3)", another direction (I think) is: the content of partition 2 is restored from retail DVD, but can't use to boot with chameleon (chameleon can see this partition to boot up). However, using original DVD can be.

You're welcome.
So it looks like your retail installation guide is a generic one. It will work if your hardware is very close to one of mac model, otherwise there will be more files needed to make it work.
Smbios.plist is an injection of mac model ID to system.
You may also need DSDT patched.

I've done some research for your system and there are KP problems with IOATA driver/kext. So let me give you the link to X61 family, see if you could go through it and find a fix for that KP first.
