Default is it possible to have a successfull install on this laptop?

hello i looked through the HCL list and saw 2 laptop models similar to mine---
    1. HCL 10.5.2/Portables - OSx86
the satellite A300 (part PSAGOE) which is the european equivelent of my computer, but with slightly different specs (i remember having to use the drivers from this model for a custom install of xp i did a while back)
    2. HCL 10.5.6/Portables - OSx86
the satellite A305-S6858 which might be a bit closer but not sure since its only one model number off mine lol

and i was wondering if it was possible to install osx on this computer... i got the kalyway version to install into vmware player somehow but the network adapter doesnt work lol... so maybe thats a good sign, saying its possible?
    anyways... my computer specs are:
    Toshiba Satellite A305-S6857
intel 965 express chipset (aka X3100) graphics
    4GB RAM
    297GB SATA HD
    1280x800 widescreen screen resolution
and maybe a few other things i forgot, but will gladly look up later if you guys need the info...

and i was wondering if i was to try to install, what version should i use?
the kalyway 10.5.2 or the iPC OSx86 10.5.6?
    thanks!

What is your CPU class/type, instruction set?

Should be able to install OSX. There are quite a few threads with similar hardware to yours, Intel 965 and Core 2 duo. X3100 graphics may give some troubles during installation.

IPC or iDeneb should be fine, but since your CPU supports EM64T, you could be better with Snow Leopard 10.6.x instead of Leopard.

iAtkos S3 10.6.3 could be a good choice, and be sure it's version 2 (for 965 chipsets), or SnowOSX v3.5/3.6.

as an update, SnowOSX was a fail for me, it got to the apple screen after rebooting and stayed bright grey (w/o the apple symbol lol) and got stuck there...
iATKOS S3 v2 seemed to install fine, but i could not figure out how to get my wired internet connection to work....
so right now i just installed with kalyway 10.5.2 and everything is fine, im just not sure how id go about updating since this is hackintosh and i cant really just update from inside the os lol
any advice would be good, thanks!

SnowOSX may have video related problem with X3100 as mentioned.
Your S3 is good though, and it's much better than your 10.5.2.

There is S3 documentation to upgrade from older version (it's almost an reinstallation).

Alternatively, you can backup/copy all the kalyway kexts, or at least the network kexts and then apply it to your S3 after it's installed.
Check in Profiler, with your current 10.5.2, to see what network card was recognized so you can find kext for it if you would install S3.

how do i backup the kalyway kexts and reinstall them after S3 is installed?

sorry for the newbie question lol

EDIT: nvm think i found the answer--- http://www.ihackintosh.com/2009/05/h...sx86-upgrades/
    i hope this works

Edit 2: well that didnt work, using that method gave me a kernel panic

ok well i copied the folder /System/Library/Extensions to disc
and re applied all the missing .kext files into that extensions folder, but after reboot nothing changed....
i must be missing a step somewhere...
