Hey there friends,
I've been looking around for some info on installing snow leopard in the Inspiron 1720. Wow!! all i have so far is a big headache!!!! If someone has any tips on where and how i should start it would be most welcome!

Here are some of my laptops specs:
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium (6.0, build 6002) [ for now ]
Processor: Intel Core2Duo CPU T7700 (sticker on the pc says centrino)
Memory: 2GB RAM
Display: NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
Sound: SigmaTel High Definition

Get more data. What logic board, chipset, bios? There are lots of distro out there that may work well. I tried a bunch for my Dell and ended up unhappy until I installed iATKOS v7. It uses vanilla kernel, which you will want, EFI, and you can do Apple software update. Follow the instructions, know your hardware and be conservative on first install.

Then try some other distro, until you find the one that makes the computer run best. If you get a homerun right off, do not mess with it.
