DVD burned, now going to reboot and boot from disk I guess....first I need to make a partition though...... not sure how to do it on my EXT HD since it already has 87gb of photos and videos on it.. don't really wanna mess with that(!), so I guess I now have to figure out how to add a partition to my current HD with my Windows 7 install lol
how to create partition in Windows 7: step 1 : http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...me-shrink.html Step 2: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...reate-new.html

Wow.. it took forever to shrink my partition by 10 gb GEEZ. I was just writing, "how long does this take?" Because it kept hung every time I had quereyed space and had to reboot about 7 times. Did it with CMD and the manager.... after 8 minutes or so it finally shrunk the volume though, no need to query LOL
Ok, for 1.6 do I want the partition to start as FAT32 or NTFS? I know I reformat it anyway, just wondering if it matters to begin with.
Ok, NTFS is underway.

Ok.... booted up with DVD, stuck on grey screen.
Circle is still rotating, but a few minutes ago I got a DO NOT ENTER or WRONG WAY icon on the stem of the Apple logo... you know, it's the circle with a diagonal line inside of it..
Ok I booted with -v the next time and it eventually reached the still waiting for root device error. Great.
I went into my bios and SMART is enabled, my HD is SATA, except there's no option to change to AHCI, if that's what needs to happen.

I guess I need to open the case and change the jumpers? I can't turn SMART off as suggested here: NForce SATA Controller - InsanelyMac Forum

Funny, my intel satellite a135 actually loaded the utility...... hmm.
I guess I'm just going to have to install Leopard on the Toshiba Intel and then create the restore disk from that, and then install the retail onto the AMD desktop, laptop, and intel netbook.

Well.. "unmounting disk" has been going on for about 5 minutes now after clicking erase with Mac OS Extended (Journaled) selected.. I have the pinwheel mouse icon too.

Yes, I was actually worry about your nForce chipsets with the infamous "waiting for root device" error. Have you try the jumper? Do you have an IDE DVD and a SATA hard drive? What options in BIOS are under SATA controller?
