I'm building a pc for my son. Now he wants to know if it can serve as a hackintosh. I know nothing about mac so I need help understanding what or where I need to read up.

The hardware I've already bought so far is
MSI 880GM-E43 motherboard.
8GB Mushkin Enhanced Silverline 1333
I'm assuming there is some sort of HCL for whitebox builds?
I'm not opposed to putting the snow leopard in a VM using either VMware Server or ESXi - is it possible?

He has a Time Machine backup that he would like to restore - is that even possible to restore onto a hackintosh or VM?
