    Default New to this stuff...

Hi all first off this is my first attempt at installing/ setting up a hackintosh so I am fairly clueless, but I do have extensive PC background... just little with setting up a hackintosh. From my readings I should post my system specs 1st.

    EVGA 780i Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad 2.2 ghz (liquid cooled)
EVAG 9800 GTX+ SSC (liquid cooled) (sedoncary monitor processing)
    Palit 8800 GT (physics card)
    EVGA GTS 250 (Main)
    4GB Ram OCZ DDR 2 800MHz
    Two DVD Drives

Currently running Vista x64 Ultimate, but upgrading to win 7 ultimate at christmas time.

I would like to dual boot Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and Mac OSX Snow leopard. I am running Dual Screens and I use the HD audio out of my GTS 250 (HDMI). I already have a Snow Leopard CD and an external firewire/USB 1tb hard drive to use and an 8GB flash drive. I have access to a Mac through school, but it is a PPC running Tiger.

I am just confused in general, I have seen about 25+ gudies and not one seems to follow a common pattern... In a nutshell I am asking, With my system stated above, how do I install OSX Snow Leopard, and still be able to dual boot windows 7 x64?

Thanks in advance! Happy belated Thanksgiving!

i would first just jump rigth in and see what happens... make a backup of anything important, make a small partition for your osx install, download an osx86 distro like IATKOS or iDeneb 10.5.8 (just start with leopard for now)

burn the distro to a dvd and let-a-rip, when the installer boots up you need to goto utilities/ disk utility and format your partition as Mac OS Extended then you can continue with the install, then before you click the install button hit customize and pick the drivers closest to your hardware, make sure to pic chameleon bootloader... hit install and see what happens

I tried this with an extra hard drive (I had an extra one laying around) and it failed, I tried verbose mode and I got the waiting for root device error... something about USBF. It was iAtkos 1.0i (something like that). How do I fix this? disable USB in the bios?

find a more up to date version of iatkos, 1.0i is far obsolete

Okay, are you familiar with the methods of installing Snow Leo retail though? This is my ultimate goal. I did some research and I believe I just need to find the proper kext's to do this for the 780 MOBO and the 9800 GTX, the 8800GT and the GTS250.

Correct me if I am wrong Id need drivers for
    nForce neworking (series 7)
nForce Sata (dvd drives and hard drive are sata)
    9800GTX
    GTS250
    8800GT
HD audio (Azalia? Realtek i believe... I can post the exacts if needed, all I can say is I use the toslink port and I will soon be piping the audio through the GTS 250 for HDMi audio. Would this work on the hack?)
    BiOS?

Anything else? How do I find which kexts I need? How do I find the proper kext for each part once I figure out what parts I need them for? How do I install them to work with Snow Leo?

I'd prefer to start with Snow Leo... I am not a fan of torrent sites... I know jumping into the deep end a bit, but I've been thrown in tech related ares deeper, and I do know some Unix, but still fairly new to it. I am just hoping I inherit my father's unix skill.....
