Oh, yes, I forgot to congratulate you for your hard work and determination to get OSX running in such a short time.

    You're doing very well.

If you don't mind I ask where you're living due to the different time. It's late for me now

I should tell you about my accomplishment as well, just got it done today. My main system is multiple boot to 9 OS's, and that include 3 versions of OSX.
And also it's running 3 OS's at the same time. SL x64 with virtual/parallel WindowsXP and Mandriva Linux on the same desktop screen. The nicest thing about this is Windows XP actually integrated into SL (not running in a small window inside OSX desktop). Figuring that you have Windows Internet Explorer natively side by side with OSX Safari 5. What a friendship come true ever!

Thank you! I am very happy to have a booting system now!
I also tried to move kexts over disk utilities, the prompt showed how they were installed but still nothing changed (cpus=1 and pmVersion=20 is still necessary to boot and the touchpad won't work, although while booting it shows that it was recognized)
How can I securely remove kexts? I now know that some of them are in S/L/E and some are part of some extensions-archive (or all of them?!?) and that there is another Extra-folder and an extensions-archive specially for the bootloader, or so it seems at least...
Do you know any newer approaches to get the wifi to work?
All the threads I read through were about 1-2 years old... Also I'm not sure if changing the device ID will change anything, as it is recognized but it doesn't search for networks.

ah, yes, I'm from Germany, where're you from? And WOW about your system Oo this explains your experience

    Greetings

tried -F, now at least busratio=20 isn't needed anymore.
    (maybe thanks to fakesmc rev218?)

now I begin to know my bootverbose a bit, following lines made me recognise them:
    MANY failures concerning AppleUSBEHCI
    voodooPS2synapticstrackpad loaded
applePStrackpad: ALPS Glidepoint v4.115 (My touchpad description)
    Atheros: mac 192.2 phy 14.0 radio 12.0
    identified as RTL8103F

I have to try some more things before I can write more...

update: damn now it stops booting on "MacFuse: starting"! no error, no kp, maybe I'll try to wait another 10 minutes...
    update2: -x works, will try again w/o...

All kexts should be in /S/L/E as in vanilla setup, your OSX patches/fixes/system kexts should be in /E/E mostly and every time any kext in/out of system, use kext utility if you could as it will clean cache and rebuild .mkext for you.

That PS2 version will not need appleACPIPS2Nub/applePS2controller so make sure that you delete those.

    I'm in US PST.

For kext removal, just delete it (or move to other folder just in case you need it back) and then run Kext utility.

While the laptop is fairly good, some of the components won't be too good for hackintosh.
Celeron CPU is ok for windows/linux but for OSX then trying to get core 2 class as later OSX kernels are based on it.
The Intel 4500 HD won't have full QE/CI supported, and since OSX is relying on graphic performance, it won't be good experience without hardware video supported.

    Hi all,

Just bought the DM3-1040ez in Switzerland and already tried to install OSX along Win7 and XP.
Tried the Kalyway 10.5.2, loaded OK from the external DVD drive, got to the install phase (make sure you don't have more than 4 partitions on your primary hard drive), but install failed at 99% on the OxfordDictionary error. Then didn't know but Kalyway replaces the Master boot so I lost the Win7 and XP dual boot and was left with a "missing operating system".
To remediate this, I used the GParted live CD to set the master boot back to the Win7 partition, rebooted then launched the Win7 recovery DVD, went to command prompt and repaired with bootrec.exe /fixmbr and bootrec.exe /fixboot (honestly don't know which one fixed the problem). Then used DISKPART to set the Win7 partition as active and was able to boot to Win7 again! (big relief!!!)
Going to try IATKOS S3 v2, anyone has any recommendations so that I don't loose the MBR again? Thanks in advance!

If you don't want to loose your MBR then don't install any of OSX version and no Windows family either, as any of their boot loaders will take over your MBR sector per design.

The point you should learn is how to install and boot your OSX, with its boot loader taking over the MBR while still retaining the ability to boot into windows.
