Hey everyone , i hope someone can help me, i am in no way an expert in computing at all but i can follow instructions...i tried to install software updates for my hackintosh straight from apple menu but now it just panics on start up...... Could anyone tell me if i can go into safe mode as i cant work it out how to do this......................

What message do you get? You usually need to patch an update after it finishes and BEFORE it reboots...
