Not sure what is wrong, I'm following this guide and I get a kernel panic every time I boot from the USB drive.

Followed the same guide and stuck at the same place also, but with 'expect 4 but see 5' error with my i7 920. I tried tweaking HT and active cores none seems to help.

    Any pointer appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. I am completely new to this, so that means I have no OSX on my computer nor any experience with hackintosh. But luckily I do have a Macbook pro to work with.

I have been a Windows user all my life, since most games only works on M$'s crappy OS. I been looking around for solutions. I don't really get what kernel, kext, or any other specific term means, but hopefully if I am able to pull this off I will look more into it.

I followed lifehacker's guide with little to no experience at all, I am pretty sure OP did the same. Hopefully you can give us some insights (in layman's term) on how to fix this problem.

Also, could you link me to the video and mini guide you are talking about. I have no clue where to look for on the site you mentioned.

    Thanks

Same exact problem. Any help would be appreciated, also my first attempt at getting mac on my PC .

I followed This Guide and it seems that many other people on this forum are having the same issue with this tut. My Specs are as follows.

    Intel i7 940
    12GB DDR3 RAM
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Sound Card
    ATI Radeon 4870 Video Card
    MSI Eclipse X58 Mobo

I borrowed a friend's macbook pro for this, so I can't really use a mac atm very easily. Is it possible to create a bootable mac USB drive from linux? I tried modifying the one I created but the permissions were set to read-only, so I could not do anything. I tried booting from the USB on my older Toshiba Satellite Laptop but it hangs on what appears to be loading the sound card drivers when I used the -v parameter on boot.

Basically another "me too" with respect to this exact issue, following the same guide. Both the automatic terminal scripting version and the manual terminal command one, same issue on both. I have a:
    C2D E6600
    ASUS P5B-Plus
    4GB DDR2
    Nvidia Geforce 8600GT
Utilizing Snow Leopard Retail DVD I got from Best Buy, so I assume that's not the issue

I have a functioning Leopard install at the moment, but nothing I do seems to get the Snow Leopard install to work
