    Default Installation help

    Hello all ,

I've been trying to install OSx86 on my laptop for a while now without succes

    I've tried with iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5

    My spec is.

CHIPSET: INTEL ICH9M/M-E Family 4 Port SATA AHCI Controller
    PM45
    (SouthBridge)82801M (ICH9-M)
GRAPHIC: NVidia GeForce 9600M GS CUDA 512 MB (GDDR3)
    CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo T6600 @ 2.20GHz (Centrino)
AUDIO: Realtek HD Audio 5730 R2.08
    LAN: Realtek Ethernet 10/100/1000
    BIOS: Phoenix Technologies LTD v.1.0C
    MEMORY: DDR2 Dual 4096 MBytes

What distribution would you recommend for these specs?
Or is these spec usable to osx86 at all?

The installation of iDeneb works great untill .. I reboot after install and i see the gray splashscreen with the apple(r) logo. but after some time it gets dark and say "please reboot your computer. by holding down shutdown buttom for several seconds or press the restart button" what to do ?

    - Thanks in advance

    PizzaJoe

    Hi,
P45 chipset should be compatible. What options did you select? For video card, you can try ATY ATI_init. Boot with -v for error message.
You can also try Ideneb 1.6 10.5.8.
    Regards,

No, you should choose only one driver for video at a time. Too many may conflict and you will end up with a nice KP.

I think I spelled it wrong, too many hours on computer? That is ATI ATY_init under ATI video section. Don't select the whole NV button. If that still doesn't work then skip video driver, don't select anything. When you're in OSX then install video driver/kexts for it.
Try that and let me know.

    Hi,
Try that 1.3 again without video and audio to see if you can get into OSX.
If not then with your core 2 duo, you could try Ideneb 1.6 10.5.8 for better support and performance. That ATI ATY_init will be in there. Don't worry about audio and wifi. Once you're in OSX then you can load drivers for them. Try to keep the selection at minimal to avoid possible conflict, which will prevent you to get into OSX.
Try 9.8 Voodoo/Qoopz kernel for better support.
    Regards,

I would try using a newer installation to begin with. Benefits of using a newer distro less bugs, better kext (drivers), more fixes, newer boot loader = a happier you . The new boot loader should fix the mDNSResponder if it doesn't try killing it:

    Code:
    sudo killall mDNSResponder

    Forget about where to download..

But under installation should I then try installing with or without all the "kexts" in the start.. or just the video as you told me?
