Default Install help with a Gateway DX4300 series

I've been trying to get this setup to work for days now with x3rmlygood and we haven't had any luck. I've been trying massive numbers of installs to no luck unfortunately I've gotten somewhat far with a retail SL disk but I hang up on AppleUSBOHCI[(0xstring that varies)]::CheckSleepCapability - Controller will be unloaded across sleep and then still waiting for root device endlessly. I tried using a kext to fix the still waiting for root device but that led to a CPU halted error. DSDT patching fails also when I tried it from inside Leopard Force compile emits 175 errors. I've also tried using a 10.6.2 Patched release but that always kernel panics when the installer tries to reboot and loading the os again gets stuck on the appleusbohci/root device error. Anyone have any luck with this system or one with similar specs?

    Basic Specs are as follows

    Foxconn A7GM-S (RS780 Chipset SB700 Southbridge)
    AMD Phenom 9750 X4
    ATI Radeon HD 4650

    Hi,
I think I gave x3rmlygood some suggestions, but never got back much detailed replies to help him/her out. Need to describe the problem clearly so others can give support.

What method did you use with retail DVD?

I'm installing from inside Leopard with the dvd from here but haven't gotten it to work, I also tried this method previously but had no results booting either. In Both cases it DSDT patching resulting in errors and it could not compile, and on force compiling it had 175 errors

Is this the same hardware that x3rmlygood tried to install Leopard a while back?
And in BIOS you do have SATA to AHCI?

Yep same system and hardware x3rmlygood tried I've been working with him the past few days to get it up and running and I'm not sure I'll have to check that in a minute. I'm also going to wipe my drive clean and try to install on a guid partition rather than mbr

Edit again: I'm running Native IDE and I can get into booting leo but I switched to AHCI and just reinstalled leo right now while selecting the AHCI drivers but I hang up on the grey screen..

Update: I've tried using another guide but that just hangs on a blank screen after its finished with the -v screens. I've also tried the generic 10.6.2 amd/intel release and I'm still receiving this KP after the installer tries to reboot, and also when trying to boot into it

I will need to review the guide and software/files that you used. I used a very similar guide (later version, maybe?) without any problem.

Mine is SB600 and yours is newer SB700, should not have much trouble, beside the CPU may need later kernel for supporting. The best one is 10.6.3, but you may need to get SL up first before update it.

Will see if I could find that link for you.

The DSDT compiler is important, so maybe that is where it failed.

alright man my last attempt was with this and I also have a feeling it may be the DSDT failing because every attempt I have tried to install and then compile the DSDT has failed

That was the one I used. The only different is with 10.6.2 retail image instead of 10.6.0, and later with 10.6.3 kernel.

So you may need to review the DSDT steps to see.

My Leopard for installing the SL was Ideneb 1.6, 10.5.8

same here for the ideneb 1.6 I have to use it in safemode though but I doubt that would really effect the DSDT but when it tries to compile it it says that it failed and when force compiling it it says that it contained 176 errors. I was using a 10.6.0 dvd so I may have to try a retail 10.6.2

Alright so I'm dedicated to getting this thing up and running by whatever it takes now so I'm downloading a retail 10.6.3 at the moment to hopefully give out a try tomorrow

Update: Somethings wrong..I can't even load the chameleon bootloader now all I get is a blinking underscore when I reboot after I reinstalled Leo now

Have you installed Chameleon to the new partition? Or erased the SL partition?
