iAtkos v7 CPU Kernel Panic, HP Laptop, Help needed!!!!
So this is the final straw, no success after hours of googling so I hope someone has a suggestion that might help.
I have a 4 (or so) year old HP Pavilion DV5000 series laptop, its AMD based cpu seems a no no for the iatkos kernels.
It simply gives me a cpu kernel panic before it gets to the osx installer, I must have tried every boot flag I could but still it fails :-(
i've tried
mach_970
mach_950
toh
-legacy
cpus=1
-v
-x
-f
and a huge combination of these flags and still i see the cpu 0X002DFBF8 panic.
The only good thing is I got past the initial problem "waiting for root device" with the flag rd=disk0 and having a usb external HDD plugged in.
So any advice welcome, I tried the kalyway distro with the same result.
Thanks in advance!!!!

Hi,
In your BIOS, ACPI enabled, SATA to AHCI?
You can try
-x -v busratio=20 cpus=1
and/or platform=APCI , without your USB maybe.
If not then you can try Ideneb 1.6. Are your hard drive and DVD both IDE or SATA?

Thanks for the fast reply, i tried those flags and still the same kernel panic, my laptop being a bit old is an IDE and I assume the disc drive is also, they are not configurable master/slave hence I need to always add rd=disk0 flag to avoid the "waiting for root device" error.
The bios is the latest available but is very limited on options (compared to my desktop which has a hell of alot more).
thanks again!

Hi,
I think you could try Ideneb 1.6 10.5.8 to see if it get any better. Yes, yours is one of those BIOS without full AHCI support, so it's kind of in a tight spot.
If it doesn't work and if your have an existing OSX, you could try to clone the partition to it with needed kexts for your chipsets along with some repair/modification. I think this is very possible.

Have you tried to run OSX installer to an external HDD (or USB stick) to see if it go through that KP (with your internal HDD removed)? Then clone it to your internal HDD with the necessary kexts.
Just an idea.

Tried removing internal HDD but still cant get past cpu kernel panic, just in the process of downloading iDeneb 1.6 and see how that goes.
I tried running the iDeneb 1.5 on vmware but it didnt run, however i did manage to set up a new virtual machine with the real dvd rom drive and booted the iatkos disc, it all worked fine and got upto the mac installation section were u select the hdd u want to install it, but it only showed the virtual hdd that vmware had created so I canceled the install cos I didnt see the point in it if it wasnt a native install, also it was very laggy due to my laptop having windows 7 running in the background and using a chunk of the system resources.
Any more tips thru the ideneb 1.6 installer would be much appreciated!!!

WORKING... Sort of!!
Ok, so I got it running, I downloaded the iDeneb 1.6 and burned the disc, still all the same errors but I kind of cheated to get it on, I put my IDE internal HDD into a usb caddy, then installed ideneb onto it using my girfriends newer and much better intel based acer laptop, then once setup was complete put it back in mine, it gave me a "invalid partition" error in dos so I booted the ideneb disc with the flags rd=disk0s1 -v and BOOM, screen went blue, then disc tray pops open, and im lookin at mac os x :-)
Only major downside is its pretty much unusable, got keyboard/mouse, ethernet port works, a 1024x768 res piccy stretched across 1280x600 pixels, and thats pretty much it, I customized the install as if it was being installed natively on the hp but no sound or wifi, but this is a positive step for me, at least i've hit the first milestone, guess its just some tweaking now and i might have a usable system.
any advice on this will be much appreciated (like how to load it without the disc in would be great)

Hi,
Yes, indeed that is a milestone, and a well done job. Sometimes, OSX refuses to play nicely then installation using different system is one way to get it through.
Audio and wifi are the very last things you should worry about because most of hacking kind of stuck there, unless your hardware is 100% supported and there are kexts readily available (some have to revert to external USB wifi and audio).
The OSX installation is actually different in just a few files. Your main concern is in video, chipsets and kernel. You can change your kernel to a better one, and your chipsets should be ok since OSX recognizes your hardware. I did not get your CPU and chipsets type, but the 9.8 Voodoo/Qoopz kernel should be the top choice.
You could go to Utility, System Profiler, to graphics/display to find your video info, model and device ID, also wifi ID to find kexts/drivers for it.
If it says core image software, then it's not QE/CI supported and may not display your resolution correctly.
When the external installation completed, you need to install Chameleon bootloader so OSX can boot up, V2 RC4 is good.
Go to kexts.com to get your kexts and bootloader, along with kext helper b7.

Thanks for the advice ratvn, I shall do some playing around when i get in from work later and post the results so it might help others in the future, i did read that the callisto kext will work with my gfx with some plst file editing so that might be an option.
My gfx card is Ati Radeon Xpress 200M (128mb dedicated ram) incase anyone wondered!!!!
At least I got the ethernet port so googling while running mac os is possible, it will save alot of file transferring with a usb flash drive :-)

Hi,
You could try ATI ATY_init.kext for video injection, or EFIstudio. More info on netkas.org.
