iAtkos S3 cannot be installed on a Qosmio X300.
Its as good as official, unless I'm clearly doing something majorly wrong I can only assume after no less than 12 attempts at installing the infamous iAtkos S3 on my beloved Qosmio X300 that no matter which way round, I can't get it to stay on.
After its initial launch, it runs fine albeit with no sound, no drivers for anything better than 1024 x 800 and no wifi. When it comes to restarting the machine it just doesnt boot up after the chameleon logo. God knows I've tried everything, various install customisations. My only issue is I'm not that advanced with mac controllers and commands but I do want to learn. I do hope someone can help I really do because I don't wanna go back to vista!!
Maybe God knows, and it is official. I don't think you're doing anything wrong. After all, you're just trying to install an OS, albeit a stubborn one, without support from software/hardware manufacturers, as that's the way it is.

Likewise, the initial boot is the toughest one (as the first system built after installation), and others afterward should be easier, mostly. So, your SL behaves strangely.
Speculation is either there are kexts conflicting with system (which may not be the case, as the description of second boot is not quite matching up, you could try to reboot with -x -v -f to clear system/startup caches to see).
Or, with SL, in some configuration, there is a memory mapping violation with BIOS RTC (real time clock) in 2 bits, and by design system BIOS will revert to basic safe mode/default, which is one step below normal setup for even windows OS environment, left along setup required to run OSX.
To check this, boot your system and enter BIOS settings, check/set/save all important fields, date/time, CPU/bus, HDD, boot order, all features and particularly SATA option for AHCI.
And if you discover something has changed your BIOS settings then it's not too hard. Reboot and see how it goes.
Ive done it!! Finally got the whole thing working, the audio is amazing, graphically fantastic with the new GL on it and updated through apple nicely to 10.6.4!!
As ever I'd love the intel 5100 driver but I, like many others are still waiting patiently for that day.
If anyone needs any help with a qosmio iatkos hybrid, give me a shout,
On the flipside to that, if anyone knows how to get the camera and the remote control working, I'd love to hear from you
Thanks all for your help, especially Nat
