hackintosh with retail 10.6.3 disc
Hi
I am a noob who is trying to use my 10.6.3 install disc from my MBP to install a hackintosh on my pc.
I am using the myhack tools and have followed the guide on osx86.sojugarden.com/installer/
Everything works until my PC gets stuck on the preparing installation screen. Is it not possible to make a hackintosh with the 10.6.3 disc? Do I need a 10.6 disc and then upgrade afterwards?
My hardware is:
Mainboard: gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3P
cpu: intel core2 duo e8400 3ghz
4 gb memory
gfx: nvidia 8800 gt
I fare as I unterstand it this hardware should be usable for a hackintosh is that correct?

Yep from what hardware you listed it should be compatible
. Did you set your BIOS to AHCI before installing?

Yea tried ahci setting also, did not help.
Has anybody tried myhack with the retail 10.6.3 disc and made it work?

Umm I'm not sure, but as long as the disc is a regular disc and not just an upgrade disc, it should work the same as a 10.6 or 10.6.2 except for maybe needing to change some kext.
EDIT: If you would like to try a different approach you can try using a different script see post #67 here.

I will do a little more research so see if I have to do anything special with some extra kexts or something.

More research is always a good thing, you might want to try removing IONetworkingFamily.kext from myhack as well. Good Luck and BTW Welcome to Hackint0sh.

10.6.3 upgrade disc
I am working on my Dell D420 trying to get a retail install working instead of iatkos or kalyway. I have a perfectly running 10.5.7 (except dual core, still working on that)
I bought a 10.6.3 upgrade disk the other day and tried empire, boot132, and the D620v1.iso boot discs. Closest I get is the apple logo and the pinwheel, then a circle with a slash in it comes up over the apple logo and the whole install stops.
I dont think this 10.6.3 upgrade disk is going to work.
thought i would go semi legit, but its back to iatkos for now.

No I have not made it work yet
One time a mac menu bar appeared in the top where I could choose to start disk tools and so forth. But before I managed to do anything it was gone and only the preparing installation part was left. I don't know why this happened.
And just to make it clear it is a full retail disc I am using, not an upgrade disc.

they(efix forum) say 29$ upgrade disk is a full Snow Leopard installer package that you can install flawlessly.
