Exclamation Dual Boot OS X with Windows

    Hi!

I am having some problems trying to dual boot OS X with windows.
HDD is configured as hybrid MBR with 3 partitions.
    1st partition is windows partition(NTFS,MBR)
    2nd partition is EFI(GPT)
3rd partition is SL(GPT). I have chameleon (NetbookInstaller) installed on SL partition.

I installed EasyBCD 2.1.2, but I can not get things to work. I end up with either "chain booting error" or another Chameleon bootloader(not NetbookInstallers) which could not load kexts for some reason and never boots into the system. SL boot entry in EasyBCD is pointed to C: drive. This is windows partition of course - I think that may be the problem. Because of the hybrid MBR I cannot see the SL drive there as it looks like unpartitioned space to windows.
So the choices in EASYBCD are:
    1)Mode:EFI, DRIVE: C:\
    2)Mode:EFI, DRIVE: BOOT
    3)MODE:MBR, DRIVE: C:\
    4)MODE:MBR, DRIVE: BOOT

With 1st and 2nd option I end up with a broken Chameleon bootloader(I found out it's just an image file located on my c: partition)
3rd and 4th option means a "chain booting error" will come up when trying to boot into SL.

So how to solve this. I thought maybe if I remove the BOOT flag from EFI partition and add it to SL partition could work, have yet to try this out. Any ideas???

    Cool unefficient

Hi again! I solved this problem by reinstalling os x, this time on mbr partition using a modified osinstall. EasyBCD works perfect! First installed windows then os x, install chameleon. Reboot. As windows partition remained active there was no need to use windows dvd to change the active partition. Installed EasyBCD, selected os x, mbr, add. Reboot and it was working

It could not be done easily the other way and I found the other way to be unefficient. It was to use a bootable usb stick or memory card with chameleon and whenever I wanted to boot into os x I had to use it. Also, you could use a gparted live usb stick and set the partition with the os you are planning to use for a while active. Aside of this, the side effects of hybrid mbr are annoying, so I encourage nobody to never use hybrid mbr partition scheme.

    Thread closed I guess.
