i have been looking into this myself.

successfully installed leopard on multiple machines, but i am weary of the xps 1645.

so before i take the (inevitably long) plunge into the process any information would be wondrous bonus.

    Default Empire EFI

Tried to install using Empire EFI 1.85 on a cd and an image of the SL Install DVD from a USB stick but got stuck at a crambled startup screen.

Seems to be a problem with ATI 4670 Mobility

Thanks in advance for any possible hint.

Lightbulb Got it working on an xps 1645

Warning do not install any system update combos it will mess up booting. updates for itunes etc are okay
This is a sort of a generic install for osx86 on any i7 system though additional drivers may be needed to support all hardware. This setup works completely on a dell xps 1645.
So I am dual booting windows 7 and leopard
I tried with Ipc, iatkos 7 etc. The only one that really works is iatkos v5i
everything works other than the wireless card that is inbuilt. To resolve this issue buy a trendnet wireless g adapter (tew-424ub) it costs $10-20.
    For the install customization select
    1. Chameleon
    2. Appledecrypt
    3. Dsmos
    4. Smbios-efi air
    5. Smbios enabler
    6. Apple smbios-28
    7. 9.5.0 kernel fassl
    8. X86 acpi
    9. Disabler.kext
    10. Graphic update
    11. Select everything under Ati (runs only one reslution setting no support for graphic card)
    12. Intel Sata
    13. Intel ahci sata
    14. Ntfs-3g
sorry the tutorial is so short I wrote it on my phone so limited typing capibilitoes lol
    hope this helps you guys
I can't read if I wrote this earlier but to boot into osx86 use 123bootloader that is burnt on a cd. Boot from that cd then in the boot screen were it says boot: type 80 I think you have to do it twice then it will hive you a list of your drives select the one with iatkos installed on it and boot up there you go.

    Default Another Studio 1645 user.

You may wish to have a look at my progress with the Studio 1645 here: tonymacx86 Forum • View topic - Dell Studio XPS 1645

I am running Vanilla 10.6.2 in 64bit from retail DVD. Bluetooth is working and Wifi/Ethernet work in 32bit.

I too am having an issue with the Mobility 4670. I also found many compile errors when trying to edit the DSDT to fix the CMOS reset issue.

Perhaps we could exchange success stories and tame this beast!
