Default Data on my Hard Disk

After following this guide OSXHPMini.info | Your HP Mini 110 OSX86/Hackintosh Resource! my HP Mini 110s install became compromised so I plan to do a full reinstall. Thing is I still have songs and stuff that I want to get off but can't access it (unless there are any suggestions any of you might have.)

So my question is, if I just go through with the reinstall will it have any affect on these files since it's just the OS or will it wipe everything to start anew? And if so, how can I get access to them and put them onto an external Hard Drive?

You could try to use Linux Live to access and transfer your data to ext. storage device.
