compaq presario 2500 (2578ai)
trying to play with iboot and a 10.6.3 dvd...
the disk loads, but when it reaches:
"Trying to change a collection in the registry" it stops..
(it attempts this twice)
the issue is with ACPI which I cannot activate i the BIOS (no setting for it)
the last lines are :
Backtrace -yada yada-- reg addresses
Kernel Extensions in backtrace (with dependencies):
com.appl.driver.AppleACPIPlatform(1.3.2)@0x1792800 0->0x17968fff
dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOACPIFamily(1.3.0)@0x178bd000
dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.6)@0x178d9000
so it seems to be a bit of a bugger... I have tried a number of things but cannt get any further... Does anyone have an idea ... else I'll just have to leave this lappie to ubuntu/winXP//

Of course, it's stock laptop, as not many people around here having the skill to modify it.
Leave it to XP/Unbutu.
You don't even know your southbridge chipsets/hdd controller, ATI video card model, and you want to use iBoot retail DVD. It won't support vanilla installation for your system.
