You could but with core i7 Leopard would not serve your purpose.
It would need SL update to 10.6.4 for better hardware support.
Try iAtkos S3 v2 10.6.3 Snow Leopard. You also would need some boot option to start the installer.

It would be excellent if you can get it through with iBoot.
I did not suggest it as first choice because of hearing mixed results, particularly for i7 CPU.
Let us know how you're coming.

OK
so what should I try first ...
iboot thing with mac MAC OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.2 [SSE2-SSE3]
or iAtkos S3 v2 10.6.3 Snow Leopard?
and I wish to dual boot with win7 also .. can I make a partition first through win7 and then use it to install mac OS after formating it through setup process?

Yes, you should make a partition first, file format is not important as it would be reformatted anyway, just to be very sure that it is PRIMARY partition by all means, as it would save you a lot of headache later. Chameleon boot loader can boot both of your windows and OSX, but only if the partition is primary.
As for installation, whatever you like. It's your preference.
