i'm gearing up to follow this tutorial to get SL running on a generic PC

i need to prep my USB stick, but i don't have ready access to any Macs !
what are the changes to this process i need to follow with Linux, does anyone know ?
or is it impossible and i need to go make new friends with Macs

OK, so in your view it's impossible to make a bootable USB stick with an image of SnoLeo on it without access to a Mac (OSX) to start with
Correct ?
And after all if it were possible, you'd be the guys who would know

IHMO - yes, need a mac because you need to run diskutilty to restore the snow leopard dvd to it.

Perhaps you can try to copy the dvd to the stick with the dd command in linux (as root), something like:
# dd if=/dev/dvd of=/dev/sdb bs=1M
where /dev/dvd is your dvd drive and /dev/sdb is your stick (check dmesg when inserting the stick for the device name).
Never tried this though...
